As Long As There's Us

Weaving together recollections of industrial workers, daydreams of school children, and nostalgic memories of residents’ past, the film transcends temporality,  documenting the past and present of an oil-producing city in northeastern China. It explores the stories of oil field laborers under de-industrialization and energy transition, divestment in China’s northeast plain, and the collective memory of its residents: vibrant colors and sounds of the city, along with quiet and meditative scenes of industry and abandonment coalesce at a juncture in time.
